Background

Television Corporation of Singapore was the public TV broadcaster of Singapore during 1994 to 2001. In 1999 the company was acquired by the newly-formed MediaCorp and consequently morphed into the company's own TV sub-branch 2 years after.

1st Logo (1997-2000)

Logo: There are multiple variants of this logo, all of them forming the logomark of the company, tcs in a slanted fashion with each letter decreased by size. Below is the company name of the logo in two lines, "TELEVISION CORPORATION OF SINGAPORE".

Variants:

  • Liquid: We see an aquamarine liquid flowing through the screen, with shadows of the three letters "tcs" moving around. Three shadows of the respective letters then meet on the top half of the screen, in a form where the "t" is at the left, and the "s" is surrounded by the "c". The background darkens as the three letters lighten up with different colors (with the "t" becoming light blue, the "c" red and the "s" green), and the byline "TELEVISION CORPORATION OF SINGAPORE" fades in below.
  • Steel: TBA.
  • Woods: TBA.

Technique: Depends on the variant; live-action/CGI fusion techniques are involved.

Music/Sounds:

  • Liquid: A droning synth theme which slowly evolves into a down-tempo beat, ending with a 3-note resonant synth.
  • Steel: TBA.
  • Woods: TBA.

Availability: Probably extinct, but might also appear occasionally on Singaporean TV works from the time.

2nd Logo (2000-2001)

Logo: Two lights (blue and red) flash in on a black background and morph into the "t" and "c" of the previous logo, which spin into view while the "s" zooms in, completing the logo. The company name blurs in next to the logo, with the byline "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED" and the website URL appearing below. So far, only English and Chinese language versions of the logo are known to exist.

Technique: Simple CGI.

Music/Sounds: A breathy synth bell ambient score. On most cases, it used the closing theme of the show.

Availability: Was used on TV shows from the early 2000s before the company's transition into MediaCorp. The logo appears with music on Crimewatch 2000.
