Silvergate Media
Background
From 2011 to 2012, Chorion went into debts and sold its property to various owners due to the failure of the company's lenders to reach an agreement to restructure Chorion's debt burdens. Meanwhile, Waheed Alli and Elizabeth Dampier created, reorganized and relaunched as Silvergate Media, as part of a management buy-out, when Alli purchased the rights to Octonauts and The World of Beatrix Potter from Chorion, a company he was previously chair of. On December 10, 2019, Sony Pictures Television announced that it would acquire Silvergate for US$195 million. The deal marks SPT's first in-house studio devoted primarily to children's animation since Sony Pictures Animation's diversification into television. Today, the company now does business under the name Sony Pictures Television Kids.
(November 19, 2012-)
Logo: On a white background, there is "Silver" in a handwritten font with a sky blue dot for the "i". Below is "GATE" in a spaced out bold condensed font. Usually there is copyright info below.
Variants:
- An in-credit version exists, sometimes with black or white text.
- A copyright disclaimer may be seen or, sometimes not.
- An inverted version appears on a few shows like Hilda.
- On certain shows like Creature Cases, the dot is 3D and appears by popping in.
- At least one episode of Peter Rabbit on Nickelodeon airing from 2012-2014 has the logo with the 3D dot against a white background with no copyright info, like the preceding Brown Bag Films and Penguin Books logos.
Technique: Usually none.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.
Availability: Current. Debuted in season 2 of Octonauts and the CGI series Peter Rabbit and was started to appear on new shows that they produced such as Hilda, Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt and The Creature Cases. It also appeared on its first Octonauts spin off Octonauts: Above & Beyond. With the renaming of the company to Sony Pictures Television Kids, this logo's days are numbered.
