Background

These on-screen logos are primarily used for television shows that have been produced or distributed by MTV outside of the United States.

1st (known) Logo (Early 2000s [Latin America])

Logo: On a blue background, we see the MTV logo being formed from electronic components that were covered in blue light as the circle also forms counterclockwise. A copyright notice that's written in Spanish can be seen below the logo.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A whooshing sound can be heard when the circle is formed from left to right, then it's followed by a sound of a flick of a light switch.

Availability: Rare. This logo may appear on shows that had been distributed by MTV in Latin America during that time period, such as South Park, Ren and Stimpy and Æon Flux.

Legacy: This logo would be eventually be used as the basis for the 7th MTV Films logo (MTV Films Europe) in 2006.

2nd Logo (2011-2014? [Latin America])

Logo: Same as the MTV Production Development logo, but instead of the "Production Development" text, we see the MTV logo and a copyright notice below it in a Pharma Bold Condensed font.

Technique: Same as the MTV Production Development logo.

Music/Sounds: A 10-note synth-like electronic tune with 11-beats of hi-hat drums.

Availability: Uncommon. This logo may appear on shows that had been produced or distributed by MTV in Latin America during that time period.

3rd Logo (2014?-)

Logo: Depending on the background, we can see the MTV logo and a copyright notice underneath it on the bottom of the screen appearing.

Variant: Sometimes, the MTV logo jiggles horizontally or vertically.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A synth tune. Sometimes, it's the closing theme of the show, or none.

Availability: Common. This logo appears on shows that have been produced or distributed by MTV internationally since 2014. It also appears on international airings of MTV's The Ride and on the MTV Japan music program Ultra Hits.

4th Logo (2015-2018)

Logo: On a white-light blue gradient background, we see a bunch of MTV logos with rainbow trails behind them flying to a top-right direction like stars. Underneath is a copyright disclaimer.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: Either a guitar-like tune or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: It appeared on some MTV shows from the time period, such as Say it In Song.

5th Logo (2018-)

Logo: Just the 2010 or 2021 MTV logo on a black background, which is accompanied with a copyright notice on the bottom of the logo.

Later Variant: The logo was updated in September 2021 to keep in line with the current MTV logo and branding, with Gravity Grotesk being the font used on the logo's copyright notice instead of Futura.

Variants:

  • From 2018 until mid-2019, the logo of Elephant House Studios can be seen besides the 2010 MTV logo. This was replaced with just the MTV logo around May or June of 2019, as the company was rebranded to Viacom International Studios on April 3, 2019.
  • When MTV rebranded its logo on September 14, 2021, the logo was resized a bit larger and it was positioned on the center of the screen.
  • A larger variant that uses the 2021 MTV logo exists.

Technique: Either fading effects or none.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Current.

  • It can be seen on most of their music programs that have been produced by MTV UK since 2018, such as Artist: MTV Rocks Special, Gonzo with Jack Saunders, I Want My MTV, MTV's Artist and Friends, MTV Asks, MTV Push Live, and The Official UK Top 40 (plus all of the other Official Charts Company-based music countdown programs that are produced by MTV UK), among others (as well as the UK and international adaptations of Yo! MTV Raps).
    • While Gonzo with Jack Saunders and The Official UK Top 40 (and its music countdown-related programs) can only be seen in the UK/Ireland through MTV, MTV Music and MTV Hits, respectively, all of the other said music programs can be seen on other MTV channels in countries outside of the United Kingdom.
  • It can also be seen at end of the MTV documentary series My Life On MTV.
  • This logo plasters the 2006 Remedy Productions logo on the "Rewind" episodes of MTV Asks.
