Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe

Background

Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe (formerly Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe and Cartoon Network Studios Europe) is the European division of Cartoon Network Studios, which is based in London. It was founded in 2007. On April 7, 2021, the studio changed its name to their current name, which is a homage to Hanna-Barbera.

In-credit (The Amazing World of Gumball, circa 2019)

Logo: Against a peach-white gradient background, we see a black rectangle. Then, a fuzzy black ball with eyes bounces through the rectangle, making the 1992-2004 Cartoon Network logo light up letter-by-letter on both rows. When the fuzzy ball gets the last one, it looks down, gets mad and notices the last letters in "CARTOON NETWORK" aren't lit up. The fuzzy ball jumps on it to make the last letters light up. After that, the words "DEVELOPMENT STUDIO EUROPE" zoom out and place under the logo with a couple of tiny splats around them. Then the fuzzy ball grins and the logo disappears via a TV turning off transition.

Variants:

On Latin American airings of older episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball, the logo is in warp-speed.
On American airings of The Amazing World of Gumball with the last-scene-of-the-show credits, the logo is shortened to when the fuzzy ball is already on the rectangle forming the words, and the TV turning off transition has been removed.

Technique: Cartoon-style animation.

Music/Sounds: 6 xylophone notes when the ball bounces, then 2 orchestral hits and 2 playful notes followed by the sound of a TV turning off.

Music/Sounds Variants:

One variation has "stepping" sounds as the fuzz bounces, a grunt from the fuzz when he notices that the N/K doesn't light up, a splat sound when "DEVELOPMENT STUDIO EUROPE" appears, and the fuzzy ball laughing. It can be found on short pilots produced by the studio in the past, such as Elliot's Zoo, Pinky Malinky, and Verne on Vacation.
On Latin American airings of older episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball, the audio is in warp-speed and in a higher pitch. On very rare ocassions (although it used to be more common earlier on), it's low pitched instead.

Cartoon Network Studios Europe

(November 20, 2017-April 9, 2021)

Logo: Same as the 2013 Cartoon Network Studios logo, but with "EUROPE" added next to "STUDIOS".

Technique: Same as the 2013 Cartoon Network Studios logo.

Music/Sounds: Whatever sounds the cartoon clip inside the logo makes.

Availability: Seen on The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe shorts and Elliott from Earth.

Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe

(December 5, 2022-)

Logo: On a black background, the letters "HB", in a bubbly font styled after the current Hanna-Barbera logo and in a blend of pastel blue/red/yellow shades, swirls around the screen while leaving a solid trail behind it and zooming in. As it reaches the center of the screen, the words "HANNA-BARBERA STUDIOS EUROPE" in a white Microgramma font appear below. Copyright information appears below that.

Trivia: This logo is an homage to Hanna-Barbera's 1979 and 1986 "Swirling Star" logos.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: An uprising flute with a series of ascending chimes, finishing off with a synth flourish.

Availability: Brand new. It was first seen on international airings of The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe in December 2022, and will likely appear on upcoming projects from the company.
