Esselte Video

1st Logo (Late 70s-Early 80s)

Logo: On a black background, we see the text "Distribution" with the Esselte Video logo under it.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

2nd Logo (Early 80s)

Logo: On a space background, a blue nebula slowly comes apart as multiple white copies of Esselte's former logo, which consists of an 8-pronged circle with an X-shape in it, are rotating and zooming towards the screen. A circle remains to the left of the screen as a sparkle appears and "ESSELTE VIDEO" appears to the right of it.

Technique: The logos zooming in. A longer version exists where we zoom to a city with searchlights in the background before going into a neon house and zooming in through the TV, which shows the regular version.

Music/Sounds: A female choir singing the name out with a bass in the background. A soft tune at first is heard in the longer version before coming into a dramatic saxophone theme.

Availability: Seen on Swedish tapes of the period. The choir version is rare, while the longer version seems to be more common.

3rd Logo (Mid-Late 80s)

Logo: An Cascom stock image of a distant array of yellowish buildings in a night sky and little sparkles in a large river flips up toward the screen, surrounded by a yellow border that is seen before it fills up the black background. Two searchlights are also seen scanning the sky. Then, the words "ESSELTE" (in green/blue), "VIDEO" (in pink/white), and an "X" inside a circle with eight little "points" around it (in blue/white) flip in towards the screen and arrange themselves horizontally, forming the logo from before. A cyan 5-pointed star-shaped flash occurs, turning them gold with a red drop shadow and the logo shines with several stars from left to right (the buildings also shine). Finally, another cyan star-shaped flash occurs, taking up most of the background, and the image freezes.

Technique: The flipping images and the shining effects.

Music/Sounds: It starts off with a dramatic synth bass tune, followed by a synth piano/string fanfare.

Availability: Seen on Swedish tapes of the period.

4th Logo (1990s)

Logo: After the warning screen, a large red 3D Esselte logo zooms out at an angle and then zooms forth out to the top. We see a bright flash and we zoom out from a slowly-scrolling filmstrip; the camera pans around, revealing a red Esselte logo from before moving the filmstrip (reflections are also seen in it). Afterwards, the film disappears, leaving the logo. "ESSELTE VIDEO", in the same font as before, appears next to it. The logo and words shine.

Technique: All the CG animation; nicely done for an early '90s logo.

Music/Sounds: An upbeat rock tune.

Availability: Slightly more common than before.
