Background
Yle Uutiset is the news subsiduary of Yle.
1st Intro (1957-1959)
Intro: A 16mm Arriflex film camera on a bright background turns towards the screen and then we zoom into the lens. The text "UUTISET" in white quickly zooms towards the screen and then stops.
Technique: Live action for the camera and 2D animation for the text.
Music/Sounds: A jazz-like guitar theme.
Availability: Extinct. Aside from news broadcasts from the time, this was seen on Yle's official news intro history video, found in Elävä Arkisto.
2nd Intro (1959-1963)
Intro: In a dark background and a bright floor, we see the text "UUTISET" floating alongside "KAMERAKIERROS", which is curved and is on the ground.
Technique: Still live-action footage.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Extinct. Aside from news broadcasts from the time, this was seen on Yle's official news intro history video, found in Elävä Arkisto.
3rd Intro (1959-1970)
Intro:
- 1959-1963: In a lakeside background, we see the text "UUTISET KAMERAKIERROS" fade from left to right on the bottom left corner.
- 1963-1970: In front of the Finnish Parlament House, we see a black bar move upwards, with the text "UUTISET" appearing inside it.
Technique: Live action for the background, 2D animation for the text and the black bar.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Extinct. Aside from news broadcasts from the time, this was seen on Yle's official news intro history video, found in Elävä Arkisto.
4th Intro (1963-1970)
Intro: Under a mast, we see a flashing star-like light and the text "UUTI" appears. The text quickly turns into "UUTISET".
Variants:
- Another variant from outside the mast exists, where the "UUTI" and "UUTISET" texts zooom in when flashing.
- A variant exists, where the camera goes up the mast, and then the text "UUTISET" appears, quickly flying to the bottom right.
Technique: Live action for the background, 2D animation for the text and the light.
Music/Sounds: Quickly repeating beeping sounds and tapping for the main variant.
Music/Sound Variant: For the variant, a different theme with similiar sounds is used.

5th Intro (1970-1980)
Intro: In a black background, we see Earth moving from left to right, which then zooms out and turns into a white circle. A set of lines form around the circle and form into a camera-shape, which then goes to the left of the screen. The letters "UUTISET" appear one by one from left to right.
Variant: A variant exists where the camera icon flashes three times before the text appears.
Technique: 2D animation created by Reijo Paatsio.
Music/Sounds: None for the main version. The variant has a synthesized repeating blinking sound, which ends into a spring-like sound.

6th Intro (1980-1987)
Intro: In a black background, we see the camera icon from the previous logo rotate around, with the circle in the server switching colors to red, green and blue repeatedly. The circle zooms towards the screen, then transitions into a striped line with the aforementioned colors. The line then buzzes. The words "UUTISET" and the camera logo appear above the line.
Trivia: A competition was held as to who would produce this intro. The winner of this competition was Tööt-filmi, who would produce it with Antti Kari and Brian Eley.
Technique: Scanimate.
Music/Sounds: Synthesized music, which rises up and ends in two "ding" sound effects. This was composed by Jukka Ruohomäki.

7th Intro (1987-1992)
Intro: We see a blue metallic bar and Yle's channel (Either Yle TV1's or Yle TV2's) logo in it. This then fades off and a white ball rises from the bars. The camera turns the other way around, revealing a black background. While the camera is moving, yellow, red, green and blue waves appear and spread out. The camera zooms out to reveal the words "UUTISET" in light blue, and the ball turns into the camera logo from the previous logos, also in light blue.
Technique: CGI made by Crea Video in collaboration with Brian Eley.
Variants:
- In some cases there's no channel logo in the beginning.
- There's a shortened version where the intro begins with the blue wave
Music/Sounds: A quiet percussion, which then transitions to a synthesized theme with four-noted blinks seguing into a rising percussion theme with nine notes.

8th Intro (January 1, 1993-March 1993)
Intro: A set of blue, green and yellow square-shaped light-rays turn into a completely blue holed wall. The camera zooms out to reveal that the wall was actually a spinning box. A blue glow appears behind the box, and a circled blue wall with holes zoom on view.
Trivia: This intro was produced for the Uutistunti programme, and was animated by Antti Kari and the logo was done by Stefan Lindfors. The intro was also done in collaboration with Aalto University.
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: An orchestral theme with trumpets, composed by Kari Nihti.

9th Intro (March 1993-1995)
Intro: Slanted Light blue lines appear from the top right and bottom left sides to fill the screen, which then fades into a blue background and four metallic towers with holes on them. A marble with the YLE TV1 logo from the time inside it moves from right to the bottom left to the screen. A dark blue line fades on the bottom of the screen from left to right, with the words "UUTISET" in white appearing inside it. The TV1 logo becomes a white square.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo.

10th Intro (1995-1999)
Intro: Inside a grey Earth with blue continents, we see wooden plates with the world's continents (with each one's point of view being closer to Finland) flying to form a box. The Earth zooms out to the top left of the screen. A dark blue line with the text "UUTISET" zooms out on the center of the Earth.
Technique: CGI, designed by Pentti Kakkori, Stan Shingler ja Touko Yrttimaa.
Music/Sounds: A different orchestral theme with trumpets, similiar to the previous two intros, once again composed by Kari Nihti.

11th Intro (1999-2007)
Intro: In a turquoise background and a black bar on the bottom, we see two spinning circles go left and right respectively to reveal a dark blue circle with a cutout of a box in the middle. The box's cutouts are extended outwards. A superimposed image then flies towards the screen, leaving the outlines of the cutouts and and the circle. A set of tiny lines start being visible while rotating. During all this, the black bar turns cyan and the time of the day and the word "uutiset" appear on the left and right sides of the bar respectively at different times.
Variant: For Yle24 news broadcasts, a different intro is used, with a transparent Earth, black cutout outlines and the text "IYLEI 24 > UUTISET" appear in black.
Technique: CGI designed by Pentti Kakkori, Touko Yrttimaa, Katriina Westerholm, Riikka Tähtinen and Hannu Hellsten.
Music/Sounds: A different orchestral theme with trumpets, similiar to the previous three intros, composed by Kari Nihti. This begins with seven fast-paced notes.
Music/Sound Variant: For the Yle24 variant, a different arrangement of the theme is used.

12th Intro (2007-2012)
Intro: In a superimposed background of the studio, we see a grey transparent box with the Yle Uutiset print logo from the time moving from the left of the screen to the bottom middle. Blue and white rings describing the news appear and overlap the box. The news text spins around, while another ring with the clock appears on the left. All of the rings then quickly fly away.
Variants:
- A later variant with a blue background and an updated print logo exists.
- In Yle Uutiset minuutissa, the grey box moves to the middle of the screen, and the rings have the text "Yle Uutiset".
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: A quick four-note beep happens twice, which then transitions into a orchestral theme with robotic sounds. Additionally, a quiet beep is heard every second.

13th Intro (2013-)
Intro: In a grey and white gradient background, we see multiple coloured lines stretch and rotate. The camera cuts in from different perspectives, until we see cyan and green lines form a gap with Yle Uutiset's logo on it. The lines then continue onward, and reveals the time of the day.
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: A combination of violins and synthesized sounds, composed by Antti Heinonen, Tapio Kangas and Tapani Kuusniemi alongside RSO (Radion sinfoniaorkesteri).
