Background

Relativity Television was founded in 2008 as RelativityREAL to develop unscripted television series and has since expanded to scripted programming, hence the name change. In 2015, Relativity Media filled for bankruptcy, and Relativity Television was sold to creditors led by Anchorage Capital. who changed the name to Critical Content.

RelativityREAL

(August 6, 2009-May 23, 2013)

Logo: We see the movie logo at the time, except it is on black background and the starfield is almost empty with no planets nor a light beam coming out of the galaxy center with fewer light streaks next to it. It zooms out a little as the words "RELATIVITY REAL" fade in with the latter word in an uglier font.

Variant: On The American Bible Challenge, the logo appears in-credit.

FX/SFX: The words fading in.

Music/Sounds: A whoosh and a synth note.

Availability: Seen on shows like Catfish: The TV Series, the first two seasons of The American Bible Challenge, and Police Women.

Editor's Note: The font for "REAL" is off model and ugly as it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Relativity Television

1st Logo (June 25, 2013-July 20, 2014)

Logo: Just the Relativity corporate logo on a black background with "TELEVISION" added underneath.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Seen on shows made during the period.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (July 27, 2014-December 27, 2015)

Logo: On a space background, we see a blue ring orbiting around next to the words "RELATIVITY" as the center flashes as "TELEVISION" appears below.

Variant: There is a version where the word "LIFESTYLE" appears above "TELEVISION". This can be seen on Guy's Grocery Games and Burgers, Brew, and 'Que, both on Food Network.

FX/SFX: The ring drawing and the words flashing and appearing.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous two logos.

Availability: Seen on The American Bible Challenge and other series from the period.

Editor's Note: None.

3rd Logo (July 22, 2015-January 19, 2016)

Logo: On a black background, a silver version of the Relativity logo appears from a flash, which centers on the "A". The text "TELEVISION" is now in an Engravers Gothic typeface below it.

FX/SFX: The shining and flashing.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous three logos. CBS airings of Limitless used a generic theme.

Availability: Seen on Limitless, The Great Food Truck Race and other shows during the time.

Editor's Note: None.

Critical Content

(February 3, 2016-)

Logo: On a dark blue background, we see a red triangle as it turns clockwise to reveal a red screen before zooming out to reveal the triangle, as it divides into two pieces and moves as the text "CRITIC L" appears with the letters appearing to be cut by the triangle, as "CONTENT" fades in below.

Variant:

  • A still variant exists.
  • Sometimes, the logo zooms in.
  • There is a version with a white background and blue text, which was seen on the first season of StartUp.
  • On Young & Hungry, the logo is squished next to the Blondie Girl Productions logo and superimposed in the last scene of the show.
  • On Fight Like a Girl, the logo appears during the credits and alongside the WWE Studios and The Jay & Tony Show logos.

FX/SFX: The triangle moving and the words appearing.

Music/Sounds: A warbling techno theme or silence, but it used the music from the last four logos during its early usage. CBS airings of the last 9 episodes of Limitless used a generic theme.

Availability: Current. First seen on the third season of Young & Hungry and the last nine episodes of Limitless. Also seen on StartUp and other shows from this time.

Editor's Note: None.
