What factors into TV footage being missing?

Lack of broadcast preservation: There is almost no footage of TV from the 1930s-1940s because of the lack of recording technology available. Kinescopes were invented in 1947 but they weren't used often.
Size of country: Usually, smaller countries have less TV footage than larger ones, such as the small Caribbean and Oceania islands. Even some highly developed European countries have little footage before 2000, in this case Liechtenstein has no footage before 2000 and the only pre-2000 footage from San Marino is a news intro (the same is true for Mauritania, Guinea, and Rwanda, which are far less developed). Notable exceptions include Singapore (there is a substantial amount of footage from 1980), Democratic Republic of Congo (there is no footage between when its current name was formed in 1997 to 2005), and Sudan (only some footage before 2000).
Development: Less developed countries usually have fewer means of TV recording. For example, most of Africa has little footage before at least 2000, while the United Kingdom has a substantial amount of footage from the 1950s (save for non-ITV local TV and obscure cable channels).
Obscurity: Measuring which countries are obscure are highly subjective, but more obscure countries usually have a lower turnout of TV footage, such as several small island countries, Bhutan, and Malawi.
Armed conflict: Armed conflict makes it more dangerous to stay in a certain country and record TV footage. For example, Sri Lanka has a somewhat low turnout of footage before and during its civil war, Lebanon has little footage before its civil war ended in 1990 and no footage before it began, and South Sudan has almost no footage that is available except for several SSBC videos.
