These are the logo variations seen on trailer throughout the years by Universal Pictures, with more to be added overtime.


Always (1989): The logo swipes up from United International Pictures logo. Only seen on one international TV spot.


Bird on a Wire (1990): The 1963 Universal logo gets shot at twice, with a flash for each gunshot.


Matinee (1993): The 1991 logo is in black and white.


Jurassic Park (1993, 2013 Universal Studios Home Entertainment DVD): On the trailer for the 3D re-release in 2013, the 2012 logo is used and the camera zooms in to Isla Nublar on the globe.

Schindler's List (1993): Same as the Matinee variant. Only on the TV spots.

Street Fighter (1994, North America):

  • On the teaser trailer, the text and byline disappear and the globe fades into the plain blue circle, when then reveals various clips from the movie, the smoke clouds covers the logo's background which it zooms out and gets vanished.

  • On the TV Spot, the logo cross-fades to screen of the TV from M. Bison (played by Raul Julia).

  • On the promo video game based on the movie, it's almost the same as the movie itself but the text "IT'S A WHOLE OTHER GAME" appears on the background after the movie's logo zooms in.

Timecop (1994): The 1937 "Art-Deco Globe" logo is used.


Casper (1995): The 1927 Universal "Airplane Passing Globe" logo is used. Seen on the teaser trailer.


Waterworld (1995): The logo cross-fades into the sky above the water.


The American President (1995, International): The logo is more brightened than usual.

Babe (1995): The red curtains and the three mices appear on the logo, covering the globe, while the letters cover the MCA byline. Only seen on one TV spot.

Twister (1996, International): The logo flashes away.

The Jackal (1997): The logo looks odd and the MCA byline is a little stretched by height. Only on the US teaser trailer, while the international teaser trailer for the film has the regular variation logo

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997):

  • The logo ripples off and fading out into the mud after the strange footstep sound. Seen on the International TV Spot.

Dante's Peak (1997): The logo cross-fades to the Mountain. Seen on the one TV Spot.


Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998): The logo animates normal, and then it reverses.


Psycho (1998):

  • The logo gets messed up, which eventually adds footage from older movie countdown sounders.

  • On the TV Spot, The background fades into Norman Bates' eye. The logo then disappears after closing and opening his eye.

Jurassic Park III (2001): Same as the movie itself, but it ripples a little bit.


The Bourne Identity (2002):

  • A target eyepiece moves in front of a tiny Universal logo, magnifying it, and the text zooms forward slowly as the globe zooms out behind while it continues spinning. At the last second, the whole logo hyper-zooms into the camera in a big flash.

  • On another trailer, the same animation plays backwards for a split second.

The Scorpion King (2002) and Robin Hood (2010): The logo plays backwards. Only on the trailers.


Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003): The logo is tinted in deep sky blue and is surrounded in light mist.

The Cat in the Hat (2003): Very similar to Twister, but the 1997 logo is used and flashes three times. Seen on the theatrical trailer.

  • On the teaser, the logo zooms in.

Wimbledon (2004): The logo turns into a yellow tennis ball for a second.

Tropic Thunder/Scorcher VI: Global Meltdown (2008): In the fake trailer shown at the beginning of the film, the 1997 logo is used. The letters explode off into space and the planet turns into lava as the camera zooms in.

The Boat That Rocked (aka Pirate Radio) (2009): On the prototype British trailer, the logo is recreated and we zoom into the continents on the Earth.

American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009): The globe turns into a baked pie.

Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas (2009): The globe is much larger than usual, though the text is normal size. The colors on the globe are much crisper and have a higher intensity. It transforms into a golden tree ornament, then zooms in fast as the background changes to a Christmas tree.
