Showcase Video
1st Logo (Early 1980s)
Logo: Positioned against a white background, we see the words "SHOWCASE VIDEO", read vertically with "SHOWCASE" in a "wide-load" font and "VIDEO" in Eurostile font, colored brown-ish/yellow gradient (like the sky in the 80's WJCT logo) and "SHOWCASE" in a yellow square, zooming out, starting out blurry at first, then being more into focus when it settles in place. It cuts to a scrolling yellow copyright screen, and then the animation plays backwards.
Technique: The zoom-out and logo going into focus.
Music/Sounds: A warbly Moog synth-lute/harp jingle which segues into a triumphant but cheesy Moog synth-trumpet fanfare.
Availability: Seen on Showcase Video releases from this period.
2nd Logo (Mid 1980s)
Logo: Starting over a black background, a dark gold square transitions to a space background. The logo from before zooms forth, and stops when it's close-up to the screen. It all fades out later.
Technique: The background, the zooming.
Music/Sounds: A catchy video game-esque theme.
Availability: Seen on mid Showcase releases.
3rd Logo (Late 1980s)
Logo: We back away from some skyscrapers, while 20th Century Fox or King World-esque searchlights move from left to right, in a nighttime setting. All of a sudden, the new Showcase logo (which looks like the first Chuck-E-Cheese's logo, only with triangles at the top) quickly zooms in as chaser lights (similar to a marquee) animate. The logo consists of the word "Showcase" in a stringy script font and "VIDEO" in a white Microgramma font all in a marquee with flashing gold, lavender, pink and red lights and the text all glows a red-orange color. The logo then jarringly zooms in and rotates.
Technique: TBA
Music/Sounds: A triumphant orchestral fanfare, with a synthesized "sweep" sound.
Availability: Seen on later Showcase releases.
